You receive the Guidebook automatically when you first join the world, and it's craftable in the vanilla Crafting Table if you lose it. Open it and read “Learn the Basics → First Steps” first: it walks the core loop: Computer, Common Generator, Transmutter, cables, pipes, Factory menu, Refined Energium and the Recycler.
Almost every machine and system has its own Guidebook entry with a short “how it works”.
